Generate watertight meshes to be used for CFD analysis, perform geometric clean up if required.
Work with the preliminary design team to perform detailed CFD analysis.
Perform low fidelity analysis using tools such as XFLR. Recommend design changes to preliminary design team.
Work with FEA team for investigation of coupled phenomenon such as aeroelasticity.
Simulate external aerodynamics, generate aerodynamic database and performance estimation of aircraft.
Simulate propeller aerodynamics, propeller-wing interaction, propeller-body interaction and calculate aerodynamic performance.
Basic Qualifications and Experience Required:
Masters/PhD in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with minimum 1.5 years of experience (or) bachelor’s in aerospace/mechanical with experience of minimum 3 years.
Experience in detailed CFD analysis using RANS based methods.
Experience in OpenFOAM is preferable.
Knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks.
Knowledge of turbulence modelling used in commercial CFD packages.
Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams, to meet ambitious deadlines, and under minimal supervision.
Highly motivated and focused individual with excellent communication skills.
Should have strong fundamentals in:
Aerodynamics of aircraft, different types of flow encountered in an external aerodynamics point of view.
Numerical methods, Taylor series and formulation of governing equation(s) of fluid flow.
Solution schemes used in CFD solvers and their applications.
Boundary Layer Theory.
Validation and verification methods used for external flow cases.
Experience in the simulation of moving reference frames, moving mesh, propeller-wing aerodynamics, and store separation.
