The System Simulation team creates high quality and performing system-level wind turbine designs to serve the needs of customers all around the world. As a System Simulation engineer, you will use dynamic simulation models to develop and validate the mechanical loading, electrical power output, and/or acoustics noise output of the current and future generations of GE Onshore Wind Turbines.
GE’s Onshore Wind business has a total installed base of more than 50,000 wind turbines in more than 35 counties, with 100+ GW of global installed capacity. We harness increased onshore wind energy potential through a broad family of turbines that are uniquely suited for a variety of wind environments, including Cypress, GE’s most powerful onshore wind turbine, and GE’s 2MW platform, which has more than 20GW installed and in operation today. Roles and Responsibilities
Perform simulations to assess the operation of the wind turbine and key performance attributes
Make design tradeoffs between the loads, stability, operation, and power output of the wind turbine
Assess and understand customer requirements in order to drive value creation for GE’s customers
Perform analysis of field abnormalities to understand root cause
Contribute to the development of scripts, engineering design aids, and/or software based on programming proficiency level
Bachelor’s degree in the Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or Wind/Renewable Engineering
Highly motivated, self-starter, energetic, positive, flexible in changing environments.
Ability to demonstrate a structured approach to problem solving, learning agility
Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in project teams in an international environment.
Proficiency in MS Office tools
System-level thinking or mindset; ability to connect the dots or understand the interaction between two things
Awareness of wind turbine fundamentals
Programming experience or willingness to learn (Python or Matlab preferred but not required)
