About the role
As a graduate Control & Instrumentation engineer, you will have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of flexible, renewable energy at Drax Power Station. In this role, you will work as part of a team to safely deliver control system and instrumentation aspects of plant improvement projects. Your technical abilities, problem-solving skills, and communication skills will be put to the test as you maintain and improve the existing control systems and networks and implement security measures against cyber-attack.
Ensuring the highest level of safety standards and operational compliance is a top priority in this role. You will work collaboratively with other plant areas, suppliers, contractors, and business functions to maintain the reliability and efficiency of Drax Power Station. Additionally, as part of a wider team, you will help implement the Engineering strategy for the power station and contribute to the development of strategies to improve the security, availability, and efficiency of the plant.
Your responsibilities will also include contract management, where you will be involved in specifying work, conducting risk assessments, and supervising contractor work. You will also play a role in promoting the One Safe Drax initiative by investigating safety accidents/incidents and taking actions to prevent their reoccurrence.
Throughout your work, you will be expected to deliver compliance in project delivery against Health, Safety, Environmental, Security, Engineering, and Quality Statutory, Corporate, and site policies. We are looking for someone who has a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Control & Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronic, or Network Engineering and is aspiring to become a Chartered Engineer. It is important that you have strong technical and analytical skills.
As part of your role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering improvement projects, so it is necessary for you to have knowledge of effective project delivery techniques.
