DNV is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated solar and storage expert to join our team in Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico), reporting to the Team Leader for Latin-American.
You’d be part of the Southern Europe, Middle East, Latin America, and Africa (SEMELA) Solar & Storage Section. You will be working with diverse customers and colleagues, and the role offers an opportunity to be involved in other energy technology-related projects.
DNV is the world’s leading renewable energy consultant. DNV’s SEMELA Solar & Storage Team is growing quickly to meet the region’s expanding demand for expert solar and storage advisory services. We support utilities, regulators, developers, owners, and lenders with feasibility studies, technical due diligence, conceptual design & procurement support, and independent technical advisory services for either owner, lender, or off-taker/procurer/regulator.
In this role, you will have a dual responsibility, focusing on helping deliver solar and storage-related projects and being involved in the service portfolio development and maintenance through internal development projects and initiatives. Additionally, you will support business development activities for energy storage-related opportunities in the Central American region, being the first point of contact for customers with energy storage projects.
Most of the work will be desk-based, but (national and international) travel for on-site and customer visits will be required at times (estimated at 5% to 20% of your time, depending on the projects you are involved in).
You would be the technical expert supporting your colleagues in the team with your knowledge of energy storage technologies, technical due diligence, conceptual design, technical specifications, procurement support, EPC/O&M contract review, design review, construction progress monitoring, testing, and commissioning across the SEMELA region.

What You’ll Do
Execute and/or manage solar and storage-related advisory projects as:
Technical due diligence processes
Project construction monitoring and on-site inspection
Extend your external network and identify, drive, and facilitate sales and market-led opportunities for solar and storage, e.g., generating leads, quality proposals, and closing deals
Analyze new business opportunities, gather market intelligence, and ensure distribution of knowledge amongst relevant colleagues
Build an internal network to gain and share knowledge and opportunities
Service procedures and instructions development through internal R&D Projects and initiatives related to the solar and storage business
What Is Required
Bachelor’s Engineering degree in the following fields: Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical
Master’s degree in a relevant subject
Minimum of six years of professional experience in the renewable energy sector, of which
A minimum of four years in the solar sector and
A minimum of two years in the battery energy storage system (BESS) sector. Preferable in engineering and/or consultancy companies
Technical expertise in solar and batteries technologies
Familiarity with technical due diligence processes, which may include but is not limited to site assessment, system design, energy estimates, equipment selection, contracts review, and project finance
Familiarity with solar PV and BESS-related regulations, codes, and standards
Experience in Project Construction, Commissioning Procedures, and Acceptance Tests.
Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, presentations, and emails (English and Spanish)
Strong analytical skills
Willingness to travel across the country and internationally; 5% – 20 %
Ability to work independently within an internal team
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to rent and drive a car or travel on public conveyances when required

What Is Preferred
Project Development or EPC experience with Renewables and Storage
Experience with grid connection regulation and technical assessments
Familiar with typical equipment for site inspections (thermographic cameras, I-V curve tracers, Electroluminescence, …)
