Net Zero Policy Manager – 9 to 12-month FTC

In order to set our company up for further success, we need a Net Zero Policy Manager to join our Wholesale and Retail Market Design and Policy team on a 9 to 12-month FTC. As a Net Zero Policy Manager, you will engage with Government and Ofgem to enable the business units you will be supporting to invest with confidence in assets, products and services that will help our customers reduce their carbon emissions, and decarbonise Britain’s energy supply.

Location: We work flexibly in line with our Flexible First working arrangements believing that empowered colleagues are happier and more productive. The successful candidate will, however, need to be comfortable commuting to our Windsor office (SL4 5GD) a couple of times per month.

The role:

• We are looking for a proactive, inquisitive and creative Policy Manager to support Centrica deliver our ambitious growth and net zero objectives.
• The Policy Manager will work in the Wholesale and Retail Market Design and Policy team. Our team supports three Centrica business units: British Gas Energy, Centrica Business Solutions and Net Zero Ventures within British Gas Services. We engage with Government and Ofgem to enable these business units to invest with confidence.
• We are particularly focussed on assets, products and services that will help our customers reduce their carbon emissions, and decarbonise Britain’s energy supply. These include solar farms, grid scale batteries, heat pumps and demand side response.
• The Policy Manager will develop public policy positions that mainly support Net Zero Ventures, for example on decarbonisation of heat. You will engage closely with commercial colleagues and others to develop practical, evidence-based positions. You will engage with the Government and other opinion formers. You will respond to formal consultations.
• The Policy Manager will also maintain Centrica’s key policy positions for all its UK business units. They will work closely with policy owners across the group to make sure that our positions are coherent and up to date.
