Functional area: Renewables
1. PrTo provide legal support for RWE’s North American renewable energy business teams in connection with our businesses in the development, construction and operation of wind, solar & battery storage renewable energy projects in the U.S. and Canada, and, in the provision of renewable energy O&M and other services to 3rd parties.
(a) in connection with energy marketing topics associated with entering into financial and physical electrical energy transactions, and
(b) in support of legal and regulatory compliance matters related to such transactions, including support of E.ON’s corporate compliance and credit teams in its central functions in Europe.
(a) the negotiation of standard industry master agreements (ISDAs, including Power Annexes, and EEIs) for the expansion of the company’s existing portfolio of trading counterparties
(b) negotiation of renewable energy power purchase agreements with a variety of counterparties, e.g., utilities, C&I customers, & financial counterparties
(c) the negotiation of agreements for renewable energy credit (REC) sales,
(d) the negotiation of related credit and security arrangements associated with the foregoing described types of transactions
(e) support of the legal analysis of and business response to public power purchase agreement RFPs, with particular focus on to solar renewable energy project RFPs
(f) the negotiation of tolling agreements for battery storage projects
(a) close alignment and cooperation with the Company’s Legal Department’s teams in Chicago, Illinois, Austin, Texas and Essen, Germany
(b) close alignment with the business partners that the Legal Department supports
(c) demonstrated ability to apply a practical rather than theoretical focus to legal issues with a view to finding viable business solutions for those legal issues
(d) ability to work in a fast paced environment
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
(i) specific legal knowledge and experience in energy marketing areas, particularly, power purchase agreements, ISDAs, Power Annexes, EEIs and FERC and CFTC (Dodd-Frank) Compliance
(ii) general legal experience in various of the following areas associated generally with the company’s North American renewable energy businesses (solar, wind and battery): local government permitting, negotiation of tax abatement agreements and special use permits, and/or support of project development, construction, procurement, and/or operations & maintenance activities.
