Job Summary
The Energy Efficiency Representative exists to support the Company’s strategic objective of implementing the energy efficiency programs certified by the Georgia Public Service Commission (“GPSC”) as demand-side management (“DSM”) resources. The GPSC has placed energy savings target goals on these programs with the opportunity for the Company to achieve a significant financial incentive. The Field Technician creatively supports the implementation a broad range of energy savings activities to the benefit of the customers of Georgia Power.
Job Requirements
Undergraduate degree preferred
Travel in-state (GPC region partners) and nationally (1-3 times per year) required
In-depth knowledge of building science, energy rating systems (HERS), energy audits (BPI), and energy simulations as they apply to single- and multi-family construction
Technical aptitude to successfully obtain Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification within six months of accepting position
Proven understanding of state building codes and residential construction practices, with the ability to comprehend current and future market impacts
Working knowledge of commercial HVAC and cooking equipment, including Energy Star designation
Clear understanding/ability to communicate applicable DSM programs
Strong grasp of emerging technologies
Experience working with utility sponsored marketing programs preferred
Georgia Power region or comparable territory-based experience preferred
Broad, strategic understanding of the Company’s operations, policies, and procedures
Excellent communication skills – written, oral, and interpersonal (including public speaking to varied audiences)
Experience managing multiple projects and working with multiple stakeholders simultaneously
Ability to motivate and influence without positional leadership
Ability to build and maintain highly effective internal and external relationships
Demonstrated ability to work independently and self-directed
Ability to lift or carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
Possess a valid GA driver’s license
Job Responsibilities
Perform statewide Building Performance Institute (BPI) level energy audits in support of the Home Energy Efficiency Assistance Program (HEEAP) and Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP)
Input data captured during audit into modeling software to simulate energy efficiency improvements for customer recommendations
Maintain statewide relationships with third-party contractors to complete direct install and advanced level energy efficiency measures (smart thermostats, LED bulbs, water heater jacket, attic insulation, HVAC repair or replacement, air sealing, etc.)
Establish and manage necessary quality assurance and verification protocol for assuring compliant program participation
Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) audits of contractor work to ensure work has been performed as reported to GPC
Responsible for GPSC-mandated targets being met
Partner with corporate and region teams to achieve program targets
Program Results – Partner with the Energy Efficiency Reporting Team to track and report program metrics (participation levels, energy and demand savings, program costs, QA/QC results, etc.)
Assist in the development of detailed progress reports to meet all internal and external reporting requirements. Help ensure accuracy of information.
Program Evaluations – Help develop evaluation protocols to measure program success
Customer Satisfaction – Increase customer satisfaction through successful implementation of the regulatory certified energy efficiency programs and other company offerings
Budget – Help manage the energy efficiency program costs and manage the successful implementation of the programs to achieve an additional sum (increased earnings opportunity for the Company)
External Representation – Serve as the Company’s expert to customers, industry and trade associations and other stakeholders relating to regulatory, legislative and energy efficiency topics
Maintain strategic knowledge of industry and program trends, impacts, resources, and best practices
