What You’ll do (the role)

Summary

The Product Engineer will support our team in the design and development of new products. Having competent CAD skills, you will detail drawings, support development documentation processes and have input into the design of new products and components.

Duties and Responsibilities

• The design of new products and all aspects of the manufacture and testing of prototypes
• Identification and implementation of product improvements. This will require a measure of creativity whilst simultaneously maintaining sound engineering principles and practice
• Liaising with and supporting the testing of product prototypes
• Ensure products meet stringent industry and applicable International standards
• Updating of detailed design drawings
• Supporting the documentation process for design
• Handle complex design assignments under minimal supervision.
• Develop key cost reduction strategies for our products
• Identify and develop partners/packagers/sub-vendors for our equipment
• Technical audits of vendors

• Understanding of RF and Hardware configuration
• Provide technical support for the Sales Department
• Attend local and international exhibitions as required
• Meet with existing and new customers as required
• Provide on-site support and training to customers
• A good understanding of manufacturing processes and their application.
• Participate in project meetings to present concepts and update status of projects to key stakeholders.
• Generate new ideas/product concepts and be forthcoming with suggestions to build on/improve existing products.

Who we’re looking for

Knowledge & Experience

• Degree qualified in either electrical, electronic or design engineering or similar discipline essential
• A minimum of 3-years’ experience in a role involving product-design, project management, and designing and supervising manufacturing processes.
• Experience and regular use of a professional-grade CAD system
• A working knowledge of modern manufacturing processes as well as rapid-prototyping techniques and modern measurement equipment.
• Electronics and/or computer programming experience.
• Experience of managing type-approvals or a similar compliance framework.
• A background within electrical/mechanical manufacturing and have experience of various manufacturing techniques.
• Good knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
• Excellent spoken English and flexible communication skills are required, as interfacing with suppliers and customers of various backgrounds.
• Should be dynamic, problem owner and solver
• Strong communication skills across all levels within the business, with both technical and non-technical people essential
• Ability to travel UK and Worldwide
• Driving Licence
